WhatsApp broadcasts to opted-in customers. Replies land in Slack, Teams or your inbox.

A WhatsApp broadcast sends one Meta-approved template to many opted-in contacts at once, and each person receives it as a private one-to-one message. Social Intents runs bulk WhatsApp messaging on the official WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API), checks consent and quiet hours before every send, and routes replies to Slack, Teams or your inbox.

How to send a WhatsApp broadcast message

Open Outbound → Campaigns → New campaign → WhatsApp broadcast. One full-page composer, four decisions.

  1. 1

    Audience

Pick a list, a segment or a smart audience such as “Opted in” or “24-hour window open”. Consent is checked for every contact.

  2. 2

    Template

Choose an approved template, or start from the template library. Fill variables from contact fields with fallbacks.

  3. 3

    Send or schedule

Review the live Reach card, send a test to yourself, then send now or schedule it. Large sends are paced automatically and held for quiet hours.

  4. 4

    Track & retarget

Watch delivered, read, replied and opted-out counts update live, then turn any result (for example “read, no reply”) into a new audience.

Want to send a series of messages over days instead of one? Use a WhatsApp drip campaign: it stops for each contact as soon as they reply.

Know who you’ll reach before you hit send

The live Reach card runs the same checks the sender does. You see how many people will get the message, how many will be skipped and why, and what Meta is likely to charge, while you are still editing.

  • Consent: opted-out contacts are always skipped; contacts without consent are skipped for Marketing.
  • US numbers: Marketing templates to +1 numbers are flagged, with SMS fallback for contacts who opted in to texts.
  • Frequency guard: contacts who received a Marketing message in the last 24 hours are skipped by default.
  • Variables: anyone missing a value with no fallback is caught before sending, not after.

Everything you need for WhatsApp broadcasts

Built on the same platform your team already uses for WhatsApp support, so marketing and service share one number, one contact record and one conversation history.

Template manager & library

Sync templates from Meta, write new ones with a live WhatsApp preview and submit them for approval. Start from 90 ready-made templates for holidays, reminders and more.

Audiences & consent

Lists, rule-based segments and smart audiences. Every contact carries a WhatsApp consent status (opted in, implied, unknown or opted out) with a full audit trail.

Pre-flight checks

Before anything sends, the Reach card shows who will receive it and why others are skipped: opted out, no consent, missing variables, frequency guard, or US numbers under Meta’s Marketing pause.

SMS fallback for US numbers

Marketing templates can’t reach US (+1) numbers on WhatsApp right now. Turn on SMS fallback and US contacts who opted in to texts get an SMS through your Twilio number instead.

Scheduling & quiet hours

Schedule a broadcast, then set a send window (9 AM–8 PM in your business time zone by default, or each contact’s local time; weekdays only if you like). Contacts outside the window get the message when their window opens. Skip anyone you messaged recently and pace delivery so replies don’t flood your team.

Delivery, read & reply analytics

A report for every campaign: sent, delivered, read, replied, failed and opted out, per recipient, with reply snippets, estimated Meta cost and CSV export.

Retargeting

Create a new audience from any campaign result in one click: everyone who replied, read but didn’t reply, received but didn’t read, or whose message failed.

Multiple WhatsApp numbers

Connect several numbers (5 on Pro, 10 on Business) and choose which one each broadcast comes from, so regions, brands or departments keep their own sender.

AI chatbot answers replies

Train an AI chatbot (ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini) on your website and docs. It answers broadcast replies instantly, 24/7, and hands off to a person in Slack, Teams or the inbox.

A broadcast is the start of a conversation

Most broadcast tools make your team log in to yet another inbox. Social Intents sends replies to where your team already works. A tap on “Show me the deals” becomes a thread in Slack or a chat in Microsoft Teams, with the customer’s history and the campaign that started it.

Every agent can reply from one shared number. Basic plans and above include unlimited agents, so the whole sales team can help on launch day without per-seat fees.

Compliance built in: opt-in, opt-out and messaging limits

WhatsApp rewards businesses that only message people who want to hear from them. Social Intents makes the right thing the default. Meta explains the rules in its guides to getting opt-in and messaging limits.

Opt-in

WhatsApp requires opt-in before you send business-initiated messages. Collect it with:

  • Keyword opt-ins: customers send a word like JOIN to your number (make a keyword QR code)
  • Checkboxes on checkout, booking and signup forms
  • Imports with a recorded consent source
  • Chats started from your WhatsApp chat button

Opt-out

Replies such as STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE or a tap on “Stop promotions” are detected automatically. The contact is marked opted out, the change is logged with a timestamp and source, and every future broadcast skips them. To re-subscribe, the contact opts in again (for example by sending your keyword), or an admin records evidence of consent.

Tiers & quality

Meta’s messaging tiers limit how many unique people you can message in a rolling 24 hours: 1K, 10K, 100K or unlimited. Your tier rises as you send good-quality messages. Social Intents shows each number’s tier and quality rating, and paces large broadcasts.

WhatsApp broadcast FAQs

How WhatsApp broadcasts work with Social Intents

What is a WhatsApp broadcast?
A WhatsApp broadcast sends one approved message template to many opted-in contacts at once through the WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API). Each person receives it as a private one-to-one message from your business, and their replies come back to you as individual conversations.
How do I send a WhatsApp broadcast message?
In Social Intents, go to Outbound → Campaigns → New campaign and choose WhatsApp broadcast. Pick an audience of opted-in contacts, choose an approved template and fill in its variables, send a test to yourself, then send now or schedule it. Each contact receives the broadcast message as a private one-to-one chat, and replies come back to your team. In the free WhatsApp Business app, broadcast lists are limited to 256 contacts who have saved your number.
Is this the official WhatsApp Business API?
Yes. Social Intents is a Meta Tech Provider: you connect your number through Meta’s Embedded Signup, and broadcasts go through the official WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API). Meta bills message fees to your own WhatsApp Business Account. There are no unofficial browser extensions or phone emulators, which is what gets numbers banned.
Will my WhatsApp number get banned if I send broadcasts?
Not if you follow WhatsApp’s rules. Social Intents is built on the official WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API), not the unofficial extensions and emulators that get numbers restricted. What Meta watches is how people react: blocks and reports lower your number’s quality rating, and a low rating can reduce your messaging limit. Message only contacts who opted in, keep messages relevant, and let Social Intents honor STOP replies automatically, hold sends for quiet hours and skip anyone you messaged recently.
How many people can I send a broadcast to?
Your messaging tier sets how many unique customers you can start conversations with in a rolling 24 hours: 1K, 10K, 100K or unlimited. Meta raises your tier as you send to more people while keeping a good quality rating. Social Intents shows your current tier and paces large sends. Your plan also sets a monthly broadcast limit: 2,000 messages on Basic, 10,000 on Pro and 50,000 on Business, with manual review if you need more.
Do WhatsApp broadcasts reach US phone numbers?
Utility and Authentication templates do. Since April 1, 2025 Meta has paused delivery of Marketing templates to US (+1) numbers, and the pause was still in effect in October 2026. Social Intents detects US contacts before you send and can text contacts who opted in to SMS instead. Read the full US guide.
What does a WhatsApp broadcast cost?
Social Intents plans include WhatsApp broadcasts from Basic ($69/month billed annually) with unlimited agents. Separately, Meta charges per delivered template message based on category and the recipient’s country, billed by Meta to your WhatsApp Business Account. Replies inside the 24-hour customer service window are service messages: Meta gives each business phone number 1,000 free service messages per month, then charges a per-country service rate (as of October 2026). Estimate costs with the pricing calculator.
Who answers the replies?
Replies arrive as normal conversations in Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat or the Social Intents web inbox. Your AI chatbot (ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini) can answer first and hand off to a person, and every agent can reply from one shared number.
Can I keep using the WhatsApp Business App?
Yes. With Coexistence, your number stays active in the WhatsApp Business App on your phone while Social Intents sends broadcasts and routes replies to your team through the Cloud API.
How do contacts opt out?
Contacts can reply STOP or tap a “Stop promotions” button. Social Intents records the opt-out, adds it to the contact’s consent history and automatically skips them in future broadcasts.
Can I switch to Social Intents from my current WhatsApp provider?
Usually, yes. Meta lets a business move a phone number that is already on the WhatsApp Business Platform from one provider to another: the current provider releases the number (typically by turning off two-step verification) and you confirm ownership with a code sent by SMS or voice call. Meta’s migration is designed to keep the number’s display name, quality rating and messaging limit, but chat history stays with your old provider, and you should export your contacts and opt-in records first. Talk to our team before you switch and we’ll help you plan the move.
