Free WhatsApp Link Generator

A WhatsApp link generator creates a wa.me click-to-chat link that opens a WhatsApp chat with your number, optionally with a prefilled message. Enter the country code and number, add a starter message, then copy the link for your website, emails, social bios or ads, or turn it into a QR code.

Your WhatsApp details

Local format is fine. Starting with + or 00? We’ll use it as an international number.

0 / 1000

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Social Intents.

Enter a number or a message to generate your link.

How to create a WhatsApp link

  1. 1

    Enter your number

Choose the country and type your WhatsApp number. We remove spaces, brackets and the leading 0 and add the country code.

  2. 2

    Write a starter message

Add the message customers will see in their text box, such as “Hi, I’d like a quote”. They can edit it before sending.

  3. 3

    Copy and share

Copy the link or HTML, test it, or turn it into a QR code for print, packaging and in-store signs.

WhatsApp documents the link format in its click to chat help article.

Where to use a WhatsApp link

Website and landing pages

Add a “Chat on WhatsApp” button, or install the free chat button for a floating widget.

Instagram, TikTok and email

Put the link in your bio, link-in-bio page or email signature so followers can reach you directly.

Keyword opt-ins

Prefill a keyword such as JOIN so customers can subscribe to WhatsApp updates in one tap. Social Intents records the consent automatically.

Ads and campaigns

Track campaigns by prefilling a different message per channel, like “Hi! I saw your summer ad”.

Message those customers back at scale

A wa.me link gets customers to message you. WhatsApp Broadcasts let you message them back at scale with approved templates, consent tracking and replies routed to Slack, Teams or your inbox.

WhatsApp link generator FAQs

About wa.me links

What is a wa.me link?
A wa.me link is WhatsApp’s official click-to-chat URL. When someone taps https://wa.me/ followed by your full phone number, WhatsApp opens a chat with you, on their phone or on WhatsApp Web, without them saving your number first.
How do I add a prefilled message?
Add ?text= followed by your URL-encoded message, for example https://wa.me/15555550100?text=Hi%20there. This generator encodes spaces, line breaks, emoji and special characters for you.
What number format does WhatsApp need?
The full international number with country code and no plus sign, spaces, brackets or leading zeros, for example 447700900123 for a UK mobile. Pick your country and type the number the way you normally would; the tool converts it.
Does the link work with the WhatsApp Business App and the API?
Yes. A wa.me link opens a chat with any WhatsApp number, whether it runs on the WhatsApp Business App, the Business Platform (Cloud API), or both with Coexistence.
Can I make a link without a phone number?
Yes. Leave the number empty and add a message: the link opens WhatsApp and asks the user which contact to send your message to. That is handy for “share with a friend” referral buttons.
Is my number stored anywhere?
No. The generator runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type is sent to our servers.
