WhatsApp Microsoft Teams integration: answer WhatsApp from Teams
Put WhatsApp in Microsoft Teams. Customer messages arrive in the Teams channel your team already watches, anyone in the channel can pick them up, and every reply is delivered to the customer on WhatsApp. Nobody needs the business phone.

How it works
How WhatsApp in Microsoft Teams works
Social Intents sits between Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform and your Teams tenant, carrying messages both ways in real time.
-
A customer messages you
From a chat button, QR code, link or a reply to your broadcast.
-
Your AI chatbot replies (optional)
If the widget has a chatbot, it answers on WhatsApp first and escalates when a person is needed.
-
A chat request lands in Teams
It is posted to your chosen channel with the phone number, a WhatsApp label and the first message.
-
An agent joins and replies
Messages flow between Teams and the customer’s WhatsApp until the chat is closed and logged.
What agents see when a WhatsApp message lands in Teams
A WhatsApp chat behaves like a website chat in Teams, plus a label showing where the customer is writing from. Nothing new to learn.
- 1
Source label. A WhatsApp tag separates these chats from website and SMS conversations in the same channel.
- 2
Phone number. The customer’s WhatsApp number, so agents can recognize repeat customers and look them up.
- 3
First message. Agents can see what the customer needs before anyone joins.
- 4
One click to join. The agent who joins takes the conversation. If a chatbot spoke first, the agent sees that whole exchange too.

Join chat4Everything you need to answer WhatsApp from Teams
The same Microsoft Teams app Social Intents customers use for website chat, built on the official WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API) with the WhatsApp details handled for you.
Desktop, web and mobile Teams
Agents answer from Teams on desktop, web or mobile. No extra agent console to keep open.
No WhatsApp needed for agents
Your team never installs WhatsApp or borrows the business phone. They type in Teams; the customer gets a WhatsApp message.
AI answers first, people take over
A ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini chatbot trained on your content replies first and hands off with the full conversation.
Route topics to the right channel
Use Escalate Chat to Human actions to send sales questions to one channel, support to another and billing to a third.
Photos, files and voice notes
Customers can send images, documents, audio and video. Agents can send images and documents back from the conversation.
The 24-hour window, handled
If an agent replies after WhatsApp's 24-hour customer service window has closed, Social Intents sends your re-engagement template instead and tells the agent in the chat.
Join, transfer, collaborate
Anyone in the channel can join. The first agent leads, chats can be transferred, and several agents can join one conversation.
Transcripts, webhooks and reports
Conversations are saved to chat history and reports, and closed chats fire your webhooks and Zapier triggers.
Connect WhatsApp to Teams this afternoon
No developers needed. Install the Teams app, connect your number through Meta’s signup popup and pick a channel.
Broadcasts
WhatsApp broadcast replies land in Teams too
When you send a WhatsApp broadcast from Social Intents, every reply comes back as a normal WhatsApp chat in the channel your number is routed to, so sales can answer while the customer is still interested.
- Approved templates sent through Meta’s Cloud API to opted-in contacts
- Compliance built in: opt-in evidence on every contact, pre-flight checks, a frequency guard and 9 AM–8 PM quiet hours by default
- STOP and UNSUBSCRIBE replies opt people out automatically
- Up to 2,000 broadcast messages a month on Basic, 10,000 on Pro and 50,000 on Business
- Start from 90 ready-made templates across 34 categories, and add SMS fallback for US numbers
